Hi, I'm Alexey, an environmental scientist with a double doctoral degree in geo-engineering from TU Bergakademie Freiberg and St Petersburg Mining University. I have over 15 years of experience in topics from pollution monitoring to the assessment and restoration of ecosystems disturbed by open-pit, underground, and placer mining. I am skilled in environmental and resource management projects for industries extracting coal, metals, diamonds, and construction materials. I previously worked in and for many countries, from field and desktop studies of land and water resources affected by mining in Colombia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Mozambique, Russia, and South Africa, to knowledge sharing by organizing training workshops, Master’s programs, summer schools, and case competitions. Since 2021, I have been serving first as an Adjunct Professor and now as Head of Research at the United Nations University.
